As part of government’s review of Crown corporations, the Province transferred a number of the key responsibilities under the Homeowner Protection Act. The transfer of the licensing, and research and education responsibilities of the Homeowner Protection Act to BC Housing provides the HPO with a more comprehensive infrastructure, an improved regional presence and additional synergies and efficiencies.
As of April 1, 2010 the HPO became a branch of BC Housing, a provincial Crown agency under the Ministry of Energy and Mines. Minister Rich Coleman is the Minister of Energy and Mines and Minister Responsible for Housing.
