- The Building and Safety Policy Branch is responsible for the BC Building Code. The BC Building Code is based on the National Building Code and is adopted by the province with changes and modifications specific to British Columbia.
- Building Officials' Association of British Columbia (BOABC)
- BOABC represents local government building officials and those involved in building design, construction, testing and research in B.C.
- Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes (CCBFC)
- Develops and maintains six of Canada's model construction and fire codes and oversees the work of several standing committees, special purpose committees, and task groups. CCBFC members are selected from across Canada and appointed by the National Research Council (NRC).
- Canadian Codes Centre
- The National Research Council Institute for Research in Construction's Canadian Codes Centre provides technical and administrative support to the Canadian Commission on Building and Fire Codes and its related committees.
- Canadian Wood Council (CWC)
- The CWC offers information and a brief overview of building codes in Canada.
- Homeowner Protection Office (HPO)
- The HPO publishes a guide for building envelopes.
- A valuable resource for homebuilders, designers and trades, the Building Envelope Guide for Houses: Part 9 Residential Construction is available. It provides practical information related to the design and construction of the building envelope for new home construction in accordance with Part 9 of the 2006 British Columbia Building Code and the 2007 Vancouver Building By-law.
