BC Building Code

The BC Building Code course was developed with the intent to convey the importance of the BC Building Code with respect to Part 9 and Part 10, particularly as it pertains to construction of single family dwellings.

This course is part of the Registered Housing Professional (RHP) designation offered by the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of British Columbia (CHBA BC). Developed in partnership with the HPO, CHBA BC, BC Housing, BuiltGreen British Columbia, Residential Construction Institute, BC Energy Mines and Petroleum Resources, National Home Warranty Programs and British Columbia Safety Authority.

Building Envelope Solutions – Theory and Practice (BEST Practices)

The BEST course was developed to provide the building industry with the latest information on building science and techniques in constructing and restoring durable wood-frame building envelopes in British Columbia’s climate.

Developed in partnership with the HPO, Canadian Home Builders’ Association of British Columbia (CHBA BC) and Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC).

Building Envelope Technician (BET) Program

The BET program was developed as an apprenticeship program that responds to the need for increased competence among trades in constructing durable walls that prevent moisture ingress and also manage other forms of moisture in residential construction.

Developed by Residential Construction Industry Training Organization (RCITO) and Industry Training Authority (ITA) in collaboration with the HPO.

Business Planning and Management

The Business Planning and Management course was developed to help both company owners and management improve their understanding of the elements of business planning and management and how this affects the everyday operations and completive strategy of the company.

This course is part of the Registered Housing Professional (RHP) designation offered by the Canadian Home Builders’ Association of British Columbia (CHBA BC). Developed in partnership with the HPO, CHBA BC, BC Housing, BuiltGreen British Columbia, Residential Construction Institute, BC Energy Mines and Petroleum Resources, National Home Warranty Programs and British Columbia Safety Authority.

Construction Law

The Construction Law course was developed to help company owners and their employees improve their awareness and understanding of the elements of construction law as it relates to construction projects and building contracts, creation of legal relationships, understanding of the Homeowner Protection Act, understanding of the British Columbia Land registry system and more.

Developed in partnership with the HPO, CHBA BC, BC Housing, BuiltGreen British Columbia, the Residential Construction Institute, BC Energy Mines and Petroleum Resources, National Home Warranty Programs and British Columbia Safety Authority.

Introductory Course on Wood-Frame House Construction

Wood-Frame House Construction course was developed as an introductory course to improve building practices for the construction of detached houses built under the building code and other regulatory requirements by entry-level builders and owner-builders.

Developed in partnership with the HPO, Canadian Home Builders’ Association of British Columbia (CHBA BC), Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation (CMHC) and the Building Officials Association of British Columbia (BOABC).
