This guide provides links to online resources related to the information presented in Building Smart #8: Heating Choices - A Survivor’s Guide for Builders held in the fall of 2007.

Ministry of Energy, Mines and Petroleum Resources (BC Government)
The BC government’s Energy Efficiency Building plan promotes increased energy efficiency performance standards for devices that use, control or affect the use of energy in new and existing buildings across the province.
Thermal Environmental Comfort Association (TECA)
Formed through the amalgamation of two, British Columbia trade associations - HVCI and RHWHA. TECA offers information and training course on residential heating, cooling and ventilation systems.
BC Hydro
Provides information on energy efficiency technologies including: air conditioning, gas furnaces, heat pumps and high-efficiency water heaters.
Terasen Gas
Provides information on natural gas appliances and equipment, energy efficiency tips, incentive programs to upgrade appliances and rebate programs available to builders and developers.
FortisBC
FortisBC’s PowerSense offers programs for new and existing houses. The New Home Construction program includes incentives for lighting, windows, and heat pumps.
BCBuilding
This British Columbia newsletter provides the residential construction industry with articles on a variety of residential construction issues, including heating system choices.
Natural Resources Canada (NRCan), Office of Energy Efficiency(OEE)
Canada’s centre of excellence for energy conservation, energy efficiency and alternative fuels information and manages the Government of Canada’s new ecoENERGY Efficiency Initiative, with its programs to reduce energy use in buildings and houses. The OEE website provides information on:

Provides general information on renewable energy sources, highlights the technologies and applications being developed to harness these sources.
